The chisel is one of the most commonly used hand tools for woodworking, and even if you work with woodworking machinery most of the time, you can't do without a good chisel.
The chisel has two faces, one is inclined, the other is straight.
When chiseling, remember that the area facing the face is what you want to preserve, whereas the area facing the other side is what you want to remove.
Before chiseling, make a line and then press/mark out with a chisel or scriber. Also be careful not to be greedy when chiseling. A little chisel will not be too fast and will make the chisel easier and more accurate.
